the last time I wrote a job description

like looked at all the details

described all the duties

took the time to map out and consider what the words meant

line by line

fingers across keys

planning

detailing responsibilities, competencies, necessities

I was a different person, doing a different thing

and the job

well, the job was already mine

there was a sophistication to sitting across from the vice president

repeatedly

explaining that our issues, highlighted our need

dont they always

but this need I was happy to fill

if the resources would support my filling of it

at first, they did not

and I again enjoyed sitting in front of that vice president and his boss

first to ask for what I wanted

but a second time to be asked not to leave

eventually the resources showed up

job filled immediately upon creation

and here I am again

stuck on the wrong side of the keyboard

unable to identify the needs nor point out how I can meet them

hoping

wishing

praying

if not here then somewhere

someone is writing

reviewing, rewording, researching

changing his mind

some time will come and my name and resume and experience will make it super clear

to some persons, some team, some group assigned to the task

oh to meet and chat

to show and answer questions

to love

poured out over zoom onto panels and papers

in between parishioners and problems

through the alb and altar linens

all over the pews and the preschool

for the sake of hearing
