the rapture is not on the receiving end of a ventilator
but sooner
or later
folks will have to explain
or die trying
put words to the pain, the paper, the screen
attempt to dissect
determine what went wrong
when it all went wrong
who's to blame
how we got here
where we got such ill-fated ideas
why we all just watched
in awe
light after light disappearing
so fast we don't have time for grief
and despair, it never really leaves
